Praying Faithfully For the Spread of the Gospel

Text:  Acts 13:1-3

Main Points

  • The church has always grown through the proclamation of the gospel and that is still how it grows.
  • The disciples were ordinary men given a seemingly impossible commission- to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth.  How could this possibly work?
  • The church prayed and waited for the empowering of the Holy Spirit.
  • The early church faithfully prayed for the spread of the gospel and the church grew.
  • Even though persecution,  the church continued to pray and grow.
  • Just like the early church prayed faithfully for the spread of the gospel,  so must we at CrossWay.
  • How can we at CrossWay pray for the spread of the gospel?
    • That God would direct our plans for the spread of the gospel.
    • That God would align our hearts with his revealed will to spread the gospel.
    • That God would empower the ministry of those sent out from CrossWay..

  • How do you feel God calling you to regularly pray for the spread of the gospel?
  • How have you seen God at work in your heart through your prayers for the lost in the past?
  • As you listened to the sermon,  were you aware of a desire or conviction to pray specifically for an area that was listed? How can the group help you live out that desire / conviction?


Prayer Points
  • Pray for CrossWay to have God's direction in these areas:
    • Church planting. Location, Leaders and Timing.
    • For the men who are in the CPTC, for their placement in fruitful ministry.
    • Our newcomer ministry,  both for helping newcomers get connected as well as reaching them with the gospel.
    • Pray for God to call and send out long-term missionaries from CrossWay.
  • Pray that God would align our hearts with his will in these areas:
    • Exploring Christianity.  Involvement, Invitations.
    • Myanmar.  David Vunga - CrossWay's involvement.
    • Faith and trust for  CrossWay's next church plant.
    • Two Sunday Services.
  • Pray our outward mission to be empowered
    • Care Groups and Mission Mobilizers
    • Washington Manor nursing home
    • Wilson Elementary School
    • Mission Partners
