Youth Ministry

youth-2Youth Ministry

We believe as a church that the teen-aged years represent unprecedented opportunities for growth in Christ-likeness...for teens and parents. Adolescence is a unique window of time to shape extremely significant areas of a child’s life. We also know that this season of forming young people can be more intense and challenging in a whole new way. Therefore, our youth ministry is committed to ministering to teens in light of the most significant human relationship a teenager has – their relationship with their parents. This is why CrossWay’s youth ministry is committed to providing common ground venues where parents and teens can grow in Christ-likeness together. But we also provide opportunities where parents can give their teens space to grow and enjoy Christian friendships. We are committed to equipping teens to live for Christ at home, the church and in their network of friends.

What we love…

We love the Gospel. The gospel is the power of God for salvation to every teen who believes. We long for teens to know the revealed truth of the gospel, to love the all-surpassing glory of the gospel and to live by the sin-conquering, fruit-bearing power of the gospel.

We love the Glory of God. The glory of God is our greatest passion. Christ died for young people that they would no longer live for themselves but for Him – for His glory, not their own.

We love the Family. The primary relationship through which God seeks to transform teens is the parent/teen relationship (Deut. 6:4-9). There are many competing influences for the hearts of teens today but there is no better God-given influence than a parent’s relationship with their child. In a given week, parents have numerous opportunities (taken or missed) to influence their teen-aged child towards Christ-likeness. By God’s design, the family is vital to passing on the faith from generation to generation (Ps. 78:5-8).

We love the Local Church. CrossWay’s youth ministry is only one way for youth to participate in the corporate life of CrossWay. Our desire is for youth to be woven into the body of CrossWay as a whole: growing, serving, watching and learning alongside other Christians in order to build the body of Christ.

We love Wise Friends. “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise but the companion of fools will suffer harm (Proverbs 13:20, ESV).” Peer pressure works both ways. Godly peer pressure values wisdom. And to be wise is to be Christ-like. We want teens to establish lasting friendships that are intent on encouraging Christ-likeness in each other.

When we meet... We meet on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month from 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM. Unless otherwise noted, the Sunday night youth meeting is for all youth from 6th to 12th grades. Some dates vary so please be sure to check the current youth ministry calendar.

youth-4Sunday night youth meetings consist of purposeful fun, Christ-centered worship, Bible teaching and small groups. It is a great place for kids to get to know one another as they learn about God.

But don’t make the mistake that these meetings are just for youth. The Sunday night meeting is designed to be a tool for parents as they raise their children to know and love Jesus. Parents and children will always have something to talk about on their way home.

In addition to the Sunday night meetings, there are regular service projects, retreats, cross-cultural trips, bonfires, adventure trips, parties and more.
