At the heart of Jesus’ teaching is the commandment to love your neighbor. While obedience to this command can and will take many forms, at Crossway we believe that an important element ought to be extending compassion and protection to the poor and disadvantaged in our community.
The Care Net Pregnancy Center (website) on Roosevelt Avenue in Kenosha is a Christ-centered ministry committed to upholding the sanctity of human life by demonstrating the love of Jesus to women and men facing issues of unplanned pregnancy. Care Net does this through counseling, educating, and praying for those in need. The work of Care Net is primarily supported by volunteers and financial gifts from donors.
The Genesis House of Southeastern Wisconsin was established in 1990 as a non-traditional Christian maternity home for homeless young women who are facing a crisis pregnancy. Much more than a shelter, we offer a comprehensive program for young women who desire to make positive changes in their lives. Located on one and one-half acres of land in Pleasant Prairie, the facility is furnished complete with a library and living quarters that will easily accommodate four to five residents.
We firmly believe that many of these young women overwhelmed by an untimely pregnancy can and will change their life-styles when given encouragement and some reasonable, helpful suggestions. Our caring program is designed to educate girls about options available to them and explore the pros and cons of single parenting versus adoption. Each woman is then free to make an intelligent decision regarding her baby and her future.
