Leadership Team

Our leadership team consists of Full Time Vocational Elder Pastors,  Pastors-in-Training, and Non-Vocational Elders.   CrossWay's council of elders functions as a plurality of elders and seeks to the best of their ability to lead the church according to God's word and the Holy Spirit.

 

Mike Bullmore

Mike and Bev, married since 1988, live in Mike’s childhood home in Kenosha with their 3 children, Abigail, Madeline and Graham. Mike responded to a gospel invitation as a young boy and was led by his father to put his trust in Christ. Prior to leading the launch of CrossWay Community Church in 1998, Mike served for 15 years as an Associate Professor of Homiletics (preaching) and Pastoral Theology, as well as chairman of the Practical Theology Department at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Deerfield, Ill. As Senior Pastor, Mike gives direction to the leadership team and pastoral staff, functions as the primary preaching pastor and helps cast vision for the overall direction of the church and its ministries.

David Daghfal

David and Elizabeth, married in 1991, are blessed with 5 children, Lydia, Mary, Andrew, Melody, and Ruth. A “missionary kid” in the mountains of Northern Lebanon, David helped his parents build and run a Christian school. As a young child, he realized that on his own, he was selfish and self-destructive; through Christ’s grace, he hungered for and accepted Christ’s salvation from his sins. When he was twelve, he defended his hope in Christ to be baptized, publicly declaring his desire to die to self and live for Christ. Employed by Abbott Labs since 1993, he and his family began attending Crossway in 2007. David leads a care group, serves in Exploring Christianity and on the chairs ministry, and has served as an elder since 2013.

Mark Gunderson

Mark and Misty were married in 1988 and are the parents of Joshua, Brant, Nathan and Brielle. Mark was introduced to Jesus as his Savior by his parents who were faithful witnesses through their words and example. Mark is an Engineering Manager for Continental Automotive Systems Hybrid Vehicle Division, where he has worked for 22 years. Mark and Misty began attending CrossWay in 1999. Mark has served as an elder since 2008, is a care group leader and an 8th grade boys small group leader.

Steve Handler

Steve and Amber Handler were married in 2005. God saved Steve from his sins during his senior year at the University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point. The  Handlers have attended Crossway since 2003 and Steve joined the staff in July of 2008 as a Pastor in Training. Steve gives leadership in the areas of  Evangelism and Mercy Ministry.

Bruce Hoffmire

Bruce and Melissa, married since 1994, reside in Kenosha with their 2 sons, Will and Zach. Born and raised in central Illinois, Bruce came to faith in Christ as a young child. Prior to 1998, Bruce worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Tazewell County, Ill. The Hoffmires were part of the initial group of families who planted CrossWay in 1998. Bruce joined the staff later that year and his responsibilities now include overseeing the Kids Crossing children’s program, Christian Service Brigade and baptisms, as well as the churchwide scripture memory program.

David Miller

David and Jade were married in 1994 and have four children, Audrey, Allana, Sophia, and Jack. David came to Christ in High School but it wasn’t until college that he began to understand the gospel more fully. Since that time, his desire to serve the local church in full time ministry has grown. He is thankful to be part of the staff as of December 2010. His work as a Senior Business Analyst at Baxter Healthcare has enabled him to serve as the Business Administrator. He also leads a care group and serves at Exploring Christianity.

Steve Moore

Steve and Christy were married in August of 2000 and live in Kenosha with their 3 children, Mariana, Madeline and Carson. God saved Steve in his high school years through the influence of a youth leader and a pastor’s gospel presentation at a Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting. Before coming to CrossWay in 1999, he was involved with Campus Crusade for Christ and served briefly as a youth pastor in Unionville, IN. In addition to leading the Worship Ministry, Steve also gives direction to our Care Groups and the Women’s Ministry.

Bill Nye

Bill and Jan were married in October of 1980 and live in Kenosha, WI. They are the parents of two adult children, Billy and Matthew. Bill was led to faith by his parents as a young child. He has served in various lay leader capacities in the churches he has attended. Bill worked as a technology executive for 30 years prior to following God's call into pastoral ministry. Bill came to CrossWay in 2005 and joined the staff as a Pastor in Training in April of 2010 and became an elder in 2012.  Bill gives leadership to the Care Group ministry and the technology support ministry at CrossWay.

Bob Peoples

Bob and Kathy were married in 1992 and are the parents of four children, Bobby, David, Daniel, and Stephen. Bob came to faith in Christ as a youth during confirmation class in his home church. An associate professor of Biomedical Sciences at Marquette University, Bob teaches and performs research in neurophysiology, with a particular focus on the actions of alcohol on the brain. He and his family have attended CrossWay since moving to Kenosha in 2003. Bob has served as an elder since 2008, he is a sphere group leader and gives leadership to the Christian Service Brigade father/son scouting program.

Mark Rogers

Mark and Stephanie, married since 2004, live in Kenosha with their 3 daughters. Raised in a pastor’s home in California, Mark received Christ as a teenager. Before coming to Crossway, Mark served as a college pastor and associate pastor at churches in California and Kentucky.  Mark and his family moved to northern Illinois to pursue a doctorate in historical theology in 2008, and came to Crossway that same year. Mark joined the staff in 2010 as a pastoral resident and became a Pastor-in-Training in 2011. Mark’s responsibilities include leading our ministry to newcomers and to young adults, and helping to lead the Crossway Pastoral Training Course.

Mike Salvati

Mike and Jenny married in 1995 and are the parents of 4 children, Abby, Nate, Mark, and Mary. God opened Mikes eyes to the gospel while he was in college. Mike and Jenny served for 5 years with a campus ministry in Ohio and then came to CrossWay in 1999 with Mike joining the staff in 2003. Mike is privileged to serve CrossWay as its Youth Pastor, coordinating the middle school and high school ministries which includes teaching the Introduction to Christian Doctrine classes for 8th graders and planning youth mission trips. He also ministers to parents and gives direction to the Men’s Ministry.

Joel Swift

Joel and Debbie were married in 1996 and are the parents of Jude, Luke, and Kara. Joel learned of the words and deeds of Jesus from his childhood and has believed on the Lord Jesus Christ from his youth. Joel's most significant study experience after receiving his B.S. from Valparaiso University includes an extended time at Covenant Theological Seminary and several classes at Regent College. He cherishes God's communion with him through His Word, by his Spirit, and in the presence of other believers. God has captured Joel's affections and given him a love for the church. Joel works at a family wood shavings and trucking company where his responsibilities include transportation management, safety, and sales. Joel has served as an elder since January of 2011.

Jeff Trimark

Jeff and Jenny were married in 1991 and are the parents of Nicholas and Noah. God graciously saved Jeff while in middle school and through his mercy and kindness has drawn him closer giving him a growing passion for the gospel and the local church. Jeff serves as a physician and the Director of Medical Staff Development at United Hospital System in Kenosha. The Trimarks were part of the initial group of families who planted CrossWay in 1998. Jeff has served as an elder since 2002.

David Vecchitto

David and Mary were married in 1988 and are the parents of 4 children, Matthew, Nicholas, Samuel and Gabriella. God opened David’s eyes to his need for a Savior through the faithful witness of his boss while working overseas with Texaco, Inc. David worked professionally for 13 years as a Risk Manager and Certified Public Accountant before God’s call into pastoral ministry. The Vecchittos were part of the initial group of families who planted CrossWay in 1998 with David joining the staff in 2001. David serves as CrossWay’s Pastor of Church Mission. David gives focus and direction to the overall mission of CrossWay.
