At CrossWay we see ourselves, along with all Christians, as commissioned by God to engage with our local community and with the larger world in such a way that the gospel is faithfully demonstrated and clearly proclaimed. We also see it as a specific charge from God to pass on to our children a clear and complete doctrine and a compelling witness to the transforming grace of God, and by so doing, firmly establish the next generation in its faith in Jesus Christ. CrossWay is committed to the advance of the gospel in our homes, in our communities and in the world.
Overall Strategic Objective
Based on CrossWay’s commitment to faithfully pass the gospel on to others, the long-term objective of our evangelism strategy is…
To envision, equip, and mobilize every member of CrossWay to effectively and faithfully bear witness to the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ in their homes, communities, and in the world.
We especially want to encourage broad participation in evangelism at CrossWay Community Church. Our desire is for evangelism to be integrated into the life of the believer and done by every member of CrossWay. We long for evangelism to be relationally driven rather than event driven. To that end we propose the following long-term objectives.
Philosophy of Ministry
The Philosophy of Ministry is to involve every member in personal evangelism. Ministry at CrossWay will be relationally driven instead of event driven. If our overall strategic objective is to envision, equip, and mobilize every member of CrossWay then we will create ministries to achieve those three objectives.
Envisioning ministries and vehicles will encourage personal evangelism and build faith in the power of the gospel. This will happen in our regular Sunday Morning teaching, personal testimonies, the Sunday Evening Gathering, and through Missio CrossWay.
Equipping ministries will train members to deepen their understanding of the gospel and ability to transition conversations to the gospel, share the gospel, and answer objections to the gospel. This will happen in the Called To Witness series, the Difficult Issues series and its publications, and through Missio CrossWay.
Mobilizing ministries will encourage accountability for personal evangelism, and create contexts for members to engage in personal evangelism or serve in evangelism. Accountability will happen through the influence of a Mission Mobilizer in Care Groups. Contexts to engage or serve in personal evangelism will include Guest Sundays, Exploring Christianity and in our daily walk of life.
Spheres of Responsibility
As a local church we have four primary spheres of increasing responsibility for evangelism.
Pastor of Evangelism
To envision, equip, and mobilize CrossWay to boldly speak and live in the world for Christ.
