Become a Deacon Partner

CrossWay's Deacon Ministry is looking for those who are willing to serve their brothers and sisters in Christ.

  • Are you interested in serving the body with your time and gifts?
  • Do you find yourself thinking, "I'd like to be more useful to others, but I don't know where to start."
  • Or "I'd like to get more involved at CrossWay, but my schedule won't allow me to serve consistently on a Sunday morning."

If you find yourself agreeing with any those three statements, we would like to ask you to consider becoming involved as a Deacon Partner.

A Deacon Partner works alongside a deacon to help serve one particular person's need in their own unique way. The deacon involved will work to match a Deacon Partner's skills with the person in need and they will also help coordinate scheduling a time to get the job done.

We need Deacon Partners in a many different areas of service in the church from making a meal to fixing a light switch.  The various areas in which to serve are listed below.  Schedules and time commitments can be adjusted to fit your availability.

  • Transportation (appointments, Sunday services, etc.)
  • Shuttle Van Ministry (once every 4 to 6 weeks, driving the wheelchair-accessible van on Sunday mornings for second service)
  • Visitation Ministry (hospitals, nursing homes, home-bound)
  • Providing Meals. Meal volunteers will receive detailed notification concerning the dates and frequency meals are needed.
  • Handyman (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry)
  • Yard Work/Snow Removal
  • Housecleaning
  • Moving (due to unfortunate circumstances)
  • Auto Maintenance and Repair
  • Shopping Services/Errands
  • Child Care
  • Other: (i.e. navigating government services: unemployment, food stamps, COBRA, disability)

Thank you for considering this ministry.  For more information,  please contact the church office or any deacon.

CrossWay Deacons

Deacon Ministry

Who Are the Deacons?

  • We are members of CrossWay Community Church who have been affirmed by the congregation and trained to do the work of a deacon.
  • We are a ministry of mercy and grace that expresses itself in good deeds. We are called to serve  those within our congregation, members or regular attenders, who are in some form of critical need. Often we help with needs that go beyond the capacity of Care Groups and we minister to those who are not yet in a Care Group.
  • Practically, our help might take the form of arranging meals, rides, or light home repairs. We might come alongside someone in financial distress to aid in assessing the situation, to provide counsel, and in some circumstances to provide limited financial assistance.
  • Our desire is to show God’s love by trying to help people in unexpected circumstances and to provide practical care to the body of Christ.
