Christian Service Brigade

Dads and Boys Serving Christ Together

What’s Our Purpose?

The purpose of Christian Service Brigade (CSB) is to provide hands-on opportunities for dads to disciple their sons in Christ. Our goal is to grow in our understanding of the gospel and in our practice of godly character.

What Does This Look Like?

CSB is similar to Boy Scouts, but with a discipleship focus. During the week, boys work to complete various awards under the supervision of their dad. Then we’ll meet as a group (dads and sons) on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month for games, worship, and a short talk. We’ll also schedule some special activities such as hiking, swimming, visiting a museum, or doing a service project.

Who’s Included?

Boys in 3rd-5th grade and their dads are eligible to participate. “Big Brothers” will be used in situations where a dad is absent.   Where Do We Meet? We meet at the CrossWay building, 13905 75th Street, in Bristol, Wisconsin.

What does it cost?

Registration is $25 (per boy), and covers the cost of awards and handbooks. Uniforms are optional but recommended. The cost for a shirt is approximately $19. There may also be some activity fees for certain special events/activities.

What Does a Typical Meeting Look Like?

6:45-7:00 - Boys log in their achievements
7:00-7:05 - Announcements and opening prayer
7:05-7:40 - Boys and dads play 2-3 active games
7:40-7:50 - Boys have a snack.
7:50-8:05 - Worship
8:05-8:25 - Talk (1st monthly mtg.) or small group application (2nd monthly mtg.)
8:25-8:30 - Give out awards, closing prayer.

What’s the Time Commitment?

Basically, we will meet twce a month (1st and 3rd Monday) for about two hours. There will also be some special events on Saturday mornings, and you will want to spend time working with your son at home.

How Can I Help?

I’m glad you asked! The success of this program depends on all dads leading or serving in some capacity. Opportunities include giving a short talk, leading a discussion group, providing a snack, leading games, planning a special outing, leading worship, etc.

How Can I Find Out More?

You can call or email the church office for more information.

A Note to the Dads…

What a rich blessing it is to be a Dad, to enjoy and delight in the children God has given us! As dads, we not only have the privilege of loving and caring for our children, but we have also been given the responsibility of training them in godliness. Look at what God tells us in Deuteronomy 6:

You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.  And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.” - Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (ESV)

God calls us, as dads, to teach our children the goodness of walking in obedience. We do this through the example of our own loving obedience and by our patient instruction along the way. Training our children should really be a natural part of everything we do with them.  Christian Service Brigade (CSB) is designed with this in mind. The program helps dads disciple their boys while having fun together. It’s also a place where friendships are made as dads and boys grow in a knowledge of God and godly character as we work and play side-by-side. Don’t miss this opportunity to join a group of men and boys committed to serving Christ together.
